FAQ’s

General

Can I send my crank to assembly the power meter?

Yes, we offer such a service. You will soon find all the information in the PRODUCT page.

Do I need to add a magnet or an additional cadence sensor?

You do not need to assemble a magnet or other cadence sensor, since POWERCRANK measures the pedaling rhythm using appropriate sensors. The value of the current cadence (pedaling rhythm) is sent by the ANT + and Bluetooth Low Energy protocol.

Is POWERCRANK compatible with my bike / frame?

The first step is to check the assembly space. POWERCRANK is compatible with most bicycle frames, however there are models in which the distance between the frame and the left crank arm is too small. To make sure that POWERCRANK is compatible with your bike, check if between the rear frame fork and the left crank arm (halfway) 10mm allen wrench will fit.

The purchased power meter should be replaced with the currently used left crank arm.

At least a 10mm space between the crank and the frame is required.

How to mount and run POWERCRANK on my bike?

This information can be found in the operating manual supplied with the power meter.

  1. Unscrew the cover in accordance with the arrow placedon its front (see photo 1).
  2. Insert the CR2032 battery into the cover of the POWERCRANK device as illustrated on the cover.
  3. Make sure the o-ring is in the right place (see photo 2,3).
  4. Make sure that dirt (mud, water, dust) does not get into the battery compartment – if it got, remove it carefully using a soft cloth or a cotton bud.
  5. Insert the cover into the housing so that the red marks on the housing and the cover coincide (see photo 4).
  6. Push the cover into the housing and turn the cover against the opening direction (see photo 5).
  7. Install the left arm in accordance with the manufacturer’sinstructions, tightening it with the strength determined by the manufacturer. Use a torque wrench for this purpose (see photo 6).
  8. Mount the pedal.

After each assembly of the crank or battery replacement, calibrate the device according to point 6.

All data about your crank can be found on the inside of the left arm. There you will find the manufacturer’s name, model and arm length in millimeters.

Battery

How do you check the battery level?
Bicycle counters equipped with ANT + will inform you when the battery reaches the level of 10% of service life in the connected POWERCRANK meter by displaying the message: Poor battery of the power meter. You can also check battery status in our companion app INPEAK Manager available in Google Play Store and AppStore.
How to replace the battery in POWERCRANK?
  1. Unscrew the cover in accordance with the arrow placed on its front (see photo 1).

What kind of battery fits to the POWERCRANK?

For the POWERCANK power meter use only good quality CR2032 batteries. When replacing it, follow the instructions in the instruction manual.

Mobile APP

What is the APPS PIN for?

This number is included with every POWERCRANK power meter and serves as a security code when the POWERCANK power meter is pairing with the INPEAK Manager mobile application available in the Google Play Store and AppStore. This code is entered once when adding your power meter to the list of devices in the mobile application.

How to update the power meter firmware?

If your power meter is paired with the INPEAK Manager application, the application itself will inform you that an update is available for your device.

The following conditions are required for the upgrade process:

  • connection of the phone with the Internet
  • the battery level of the power meter must be at least 50%
The application does not find my power meter, what to do?

First, make sure your power meter is running – awake from standby. To do this, turn the cranks dynamically back three times.

Turn on your Bluetooth, Location and make sure you have access to the Internet.

If you still have a problem with searching for the device in the application, go to Android settings, then find the Applications / Application Manager section and find Inpeak Manager. Depending on the Android version, this view may be different.

Make sure that all available items are active in the Permissions field. If not, give them permission.

Usage

My bicycle computer does not search or connect to the POWERCRANK, what should I do?

Check if your bicycle computer supports the ANT + or Bluetooth Smart protocol, and whether it is on the list of devices compatible with POWERCRANK.

If your computer is compatible with POWERCRANK, check if the battery of the power meter is not discharged, or the power meter is not turned off. To turn on the meter, turn the crank back several times. Then try to search again for the POWERCRANK power meter on your bicycle computer.

How to perform zero-offset calibration of the power meter?
  1. Put the bicycle in the driving position (see photo 7).
  2. Start the device by turning the crank twice back.
  3. Make sure that the battery is not discharged.
  4. Position the left crank arm vertically with the pedal down (6 o’clock) according to photo 7 and make sure
that no object touches the left arm. The pedal must be screwed to the left arm.
  5. Pair the bicycle computer with POWERCRANK byentering the ID number placed on the crank or on the packaging in the ANT+ options.
  6. Run the ZERO OFFSET calibration function on the bicycle computer.
  7. A message indicating that the calibration has been completed, and the value of the calibration process, which should be in the range of -5 to 5, will appear after a while. This process can take up to several dozen seconds. If this value does not fall within the given range, contact support@inpeak.pl. After the calibration process, the device is ready for cycling.

Note:

Calibration should be performed relatively frequently, especially after changing the weather conditions – this will ensure correct indication of POWERCRANK power measurement. Calibration should be carried out each time after disassembly and assembly of the device and replacement of the battery.
